Hester Coke Works Cleanup 2019

Yesterday we had our second annual Hester Coke Works cleanup. It was an incredibly successful event. We had over 40 volunteers and were able to get an awful lot of work done. I'd like to give a big shout out to the Sewickley Creek Watershed Association, New Stanton Boy Scout Troop 457, State Representative Eric Nelson, Society for Industrial Archaeology, The Book Case Book Store in Connellsville, Stuff That's Gone, Mt. Pleasant Historical Society, Coal Camp USA, Wilkinson Nursery, and everybody else that came out to help. Every one of you did an incredible job, and this project is well on its way to becoming a highlight and a must-see point of interest in Westmoreland County.

More information on these incredible ovens can be found here, and the book I've written on Hester Coke Works is available at the Book Case (724-628-9181) at 809 Blackstone Road Connellsville, PA, or by contacting me through here or our Facebook page.

This is just a collection of photos from the event. Anybody else that was snapping photos, please send them to me and I will add them.

Once again, thanks to everybody involved, and I'm still in awe about all that we accomplished.
