Abandoned Bucyrus-Erie Earth Excavator

I noticed this Bucyrus-Erie Excavator sitting along the road one day while I was working. I don't know much about it except it's really big and really cool. I haven't been able to find out the model of this or if it was steam powered or what. Any insight would be appreciated.

Big engine.

  1. Wow!! that is cool! Just because it looks like the woods are growing around it and taking it over almost, this is an old diesel powered cable rig, my dad had an old 22-b but it was newer then this one by about 20 years maybe. This needs a very nice photo spread in a nice magazine! thanks for sharing!

  4. I took these pictures in the spring. I drove past it last week and it's hard to even see. It's all grown in.

  5. Oh, this one's really old but you can see that the materials used are heavy metal which makes it really sturdy through the years.
